The Original Bowen Technique

Relaxing body work that helps repair

injuries, resolve pain, and soothe stiff

muscles and joints.

What It Is

Bowen is known as the “homeopath of body work”. A body work unlike any other, Bowen applies muscle and connective tissue therapy in a whole body healing approach. Generally, this relaxing technique is applied while the patient is lying down. It utilizes gentle rolling of the muscle and connective tissue with frequent pauses in between. The rolling allows for the resetting of the tissue, while the pauses allow the body to begin to balance itself. Certain sequences address specific problems and relieve stress from problem areas. The moves are gentle, but purposeful, and can be done through light clothing.  The work usually results in the relief of many specific injuries and other health problems, both acute and chronic.

What Conditions Does It Work For?

  • back pain — lower, upper, mid-back

  • carpal tunnel syndrome

  • shoulder pain, poor range of motion

  • hamstring pain or tightness

  • TMJ / jaw pain / misalignment

  • knee pain

  • neck pain /  lack of  range of motion

  • scoliosis

  • sporting injuries

  • sprained ankle

  • tennis elbow

  • uneven leg length

  • headaches, including migraines

  • ankle problems

  • hip or pelvic muscle pain

  • golfer’s elbow

  • teeth grinding / clicking jaw

  • stress

  • arthritis

Is Bowen Work Right For Me?

You're probably  wondering, "Will Bowenwork help MY condition?"  While it can be used on individuals of all ages and in all degrees of health, two factors make it difficult to say:

1.  Each person responds differently, at different rates and to different degrees. You will respond according to your own body's ability to heal.

2.  Bowenwork addresses the entire body holistically. You may see improvements in conditions that you forgot to mention to your practitioner, even if they are located far from where the practitioner touches you.

In any case, you should know after two or three sessions at most, whether or not the Bowenwork would help in your particular case. As a general rule, many more conditions DO respond positively, more often than not.

“I have suffered with shoulder & neck pain & stiffness for years.  I have been to every type of practitioner with no lasting results.  After one Bowen session with Marty, my symptoms were dramatically less & by the second session, I was 80% better.”

"I have had tennis elbow and shoulder pain for over a year. Now, the pain in both areas is gone."

Frequently asked questions

Q: Where is Bowen done?
A: We perform the service here, in a
private room with a massage bed.

Q: How long does it take?

A: 30-60 minutes

Q: How much does it cost?

A: $80

Q: How do I make an appointment?

A: Call us at 225-2747 or stop in

Q: I’m getting chiropractic, physical therapy, or another type of body work done. Can I do this too?

A: Yes, but there are certain restrictions. Please ask us how we can tailor it to suit your needs.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Light clothing is best. The work is preformed over the clothes, so thin enough to be able to manipulate the muscle.

Q: How quickly would I notice results?

A: Many see a dramatic reduction of symptoms after the first session, and by the second or third session their symptoms are almost or completely gone.

Q: Is this a one time treatment?

A: Bowen works best over a series of treatments, just like any other kind of body work. Once the healing has accomplished, it is best to maintain health and wellness through once a month sessions.
