Borage / GLA 1000mg 60 softgels
The oil derived from the seed of the blue, star shaped borage flower is nature's richest source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA). Many people in Western societies may be at least partially GLA-deficient as a result of aging, glucose intolerance, dietary fat intake, and other problems. Evidence suggests that certain individuals may lack the necessary enzyme systems to effectively metabolize the linoleic acid found in other polyunsaturated oils to GLA. Those with premenstrual syndrome, diabetes, scleroderma, Sjogren’s syndrome, tardive dyskinesia, eczema, and other skin conditions may have a metabolic block that interferes with the body’s ability to make GLA.
Borage seed oil provides a potent and economical form of GLA allowing for a more efficient fat metabolism in these individuals. Borage oil provides a higher ratio of GLA to linoleic acid than evening primrose oil and similar plant oils and can be used to help reestablish a healthier omega-6 fatty acid balance. Supplements containing GLA have become popular in recent years for their numerous applications.
Borage Oil is considered the highest quality GLA supplement available and holds many advantages to traditional evening primrose and black currant seed oils. Borage Oil is cold-pressed and free of hexane or other solvents.
